At a glance

  • Distributor: Nex Point PCL (NEX), SET-listed, part of the Energy Absolute group. Exclusive distributor and after-sales provider for BAW in Thailand on a 3-year contract (Thansettakij, 2026-07-16, Bangkok Biznews, 2026-07-17).
  • Distribution deal announced: 2026-05-05 (Autolifethailand, 2026-05-05, autospinn, 2026-05-06). The exact signing date is not published.
  • Entered Thailand: official launch and price on 2026-07-16 (Autolifethailand, 2026-07-16, Thansettakij, Daily News, 2026-07-16). Bookings are taken by phone and LINE (9carthai, 2026-07-17); that reservations opened on launch day rests on the NEX press release (Mitihoon) and is [unverified] — neither Autolifethailand nor Thansettakij mentions a booking start date.
  • First model launched: M8 EV Flagship, a 7-seat electric MPV.
  • Models on sale (as of 2026-11-03): M8 only, one variant.
  • Deliveries: from October 2026 (Thansettakij, Autolifethailand); the NEX press release says Q4 2026 (Mitihoon). Whether deliveries actually began is [unverified]; no report found.
  • Showrooms: 9 showroom-and-service sites planned for 2026, 20 by 2027 (see Showrooms).
  • Current price band: ฿1,299,000 (single variant).
  • Import: imported from China under the Thailand–China FTA (0% import duty); no Thai assembly yet (Autolifethailand).

BAW is a Chinese maker best known at home for light off-roaders (the 212 line), commercial vehicles and small electric city cars (Wikipedia — BAW). NEX itself builds electric buses and tractor units in Thailand and imports electric trucks and vans; the BAW M8 is its first passenger car, pitched at corporate fleets, executives, hotels and airport transfers (autospinn, Thansettakij). NEX says the M8 is BAW's only right-hand-drive model worldwide and that Thailand was the first country to launch it with an official price (Autolifethailand).

Thai spelling. 9carthai writes the brand บีเอดับเบิลยู (page title "ราคา บีเอดับเบิลยู M8" — 9carthai); most Thai press keeps the Latin "BAW". Bangkok Biznews writes the model เอ็ม 8 ("เอ็ม8 แฟลกชิป" — Bangkok Biznews).

Distribution & business

NEX announced on 2026-05-05 that it had signed with Beijing Automobile Works to become BAW's sole distributor in Thailand, starting with the M8 EV (Autolifethailand). NEX chairman Wasu Klomkliang (วสุ กลมเกลี้ยง) framed it as NEX's move from electric buses and commercial vehicles into passenger MPVs (autospinn). At launch, Co-CEO Thanapat Sukhsuthamwong (ธนพัชร์ สุขสุธรรมวงศ์) said the contract runs 3 years (Thansettakij). NEX handles sales, warranty, parts and service itself (NEX press release via Mitihoon).

The May announcements promised a price "within May" (Autolifethailand, 2026-05-05); the launch actually came on 2026-07-16.

Company background. Bangkok Biznews describes BAW as a 75-year-old maker (i.e. founded 1951), now 100% privately owned and selling in more than 60 countries (Bangkok Biznews). Wikipedia dates the company to 1953 (as a parts factory, renamed BAW in 1958) and records the move to private ownership in 2020 and 2023 (Wikipedia — BAW). The founding year is therefore ◐ (1951 vs 1953).

Volume targets. 1,000 M8s by the end of 2026 (Thansettakij, Autolifethailand) and 1,500 in 2027 (Bangkok Biznews). NEX expects the M8 to lift its total 2026 vehicle sales to 1,500–2,000 units (Thansettakij).

Local assembly: none for now. NEX says the FTA duty exemption makes local assembly unnecessary at current volumes and that a decision could take about a year (Autolifethailand). If demand is good, NEX could add a BAW line at its Chachoengsao plant, which builds 3,000 vehicles a year today (Thansettakij).

Showrooms

Nine showroom-and-service sites are planned for 2026, with the network to reach 20 nationwide by 2027 (Thansettakij, Autolifethailand, 9carthai). No street addresses, operators or opening dates have been published.

Charging network partners

NEX links M8 owners to its own NEX EV Charger stations and the EA Anywhere network run by its parent group (9carthai, NEX press release via Mitihoon). The first 500 buyers get an EA Anywhere 7.3 kW AC wall charger, installation not included (9carthai, Bangkok Biznews).

Warranty terms

(9carthai, Bangkok Biznews)

  • Vehicle: not published [unverified]
  • High-voltage battery: 8 years / 150,000 km
  • Drive motor: 5 years / 200,000 km
  • Roadside assistance: not published
  • Insurance: 1 year first-class, free (first 500 buyers)
  • Wallbox: EA Anywhere 7.3 kW AC, free, installation extra (first 500 buyers)

9carthai lists the motor and battery warranty inside its "สิทธิพิเศษ 500 คันแรก" (first-500 benefits) list, on both its launch article and its price page; Bangkok Biznews lists it under "ข้อเสนออื่น ๆ" (other offers) without a unit limit. Whether the warranty applies to every buyer is therefore [unverified].

M8 — 7-seat large electric MPV

A 5.3 m, 3.2 m-wheelbase MPV with powered sliding doors and second-row captain's chairs, sold in Thailand as a single BEV variant at ฿1,299,000. NEX targets the ฿1–2 m MPV gap below the usual premium people-movers (Autolifethailand).

Lineage & platform

  • Generation: first-generation M8 (Chinese name 锐胜M8, "Ruisheng M8"), in production since 2025 (Wikipedia); China pre-sales opened in November 2025 (CarNewsChina, 2025-11-06).
  • Platform: a stretched version of the BAW Ruisheng Wangpai M7 platform (Wikipedia) ◐.
  • Thai-market build: right-hand drive, BAW's only RHD model (Autolifethailand). Thai press reports front-wheel drive (9carthai, 9carthai price page); the China and Hong Kong EVs are rear-wheel drive (Paultan, 2026-08-11, Wikipedia) ◐.
  • Architecture: voltage not published [unverified].
  • Origin: imported from China (Autolifethailand); BAW builds the M8 in Qingdao, Shandong (Wikipedia) ◐ — plant not stated for the Thai cars.

Trims

M8 EV Flagship (7-seat) — ฿1,299,000

Pricing. All sources agree on ฿1,299,000, VAT included (Autolifethailand, 9carthai, Thansettakij, Bangkok Biznews, Daily News; VAT-inclusive per the English NEX release via Mitihoon). They differ on whether the price itself is limited:

  • Thansettakij calls it a special price for the first 500 units, subsidised by the parent company ("ราคาพิเศษ 500 คันแรก"). Bangkok Biznews and Daily News also tie ฿1,299,000 to the first 500.
  • Autolifethailand and the NEX press release present ฿1,299,000 as the selling / starting price, with no unit limit (Mitihoon).
  • 9carthai lists ฿1,299,000 as the price and limits only the gifts (wallbox + insurance) to the first 500 (9carthai).

both launch and current price; its last observation is the 9carthai price page, published 2026-07-27. No official BAW Thailand or NEX product page exists to re-check it — the NEX corporate site lists no BAW model as of 2026-11-03 (nexpoint.co.th sitemap). The BAW tag pages on 9carthai and Autolifethailand show no BAW article after July 2026 (checked 2026-11-03), so no price change has been reported either.

  • Drive: 9carthai says FWD (on both its launch article and price page); Paultan says the China and Hong Kong EVs are RWD; Wikipedia says the EV is rear-motor RWD but that Thailand gets a front-motor FWD version (uncited there, likely from Thai press).
