About Geely in Thailand

Geely Auto Group in Thailand (incl. Lynk & Co)

Canonical research doc. Source-of-truth for every Geely-brand and Lynk & Co fact used by seed scripts, the brand page(s), and the AI advisor. Cite every claim inline. Mark [unverified] rather than guess.

Range-standard hygiene (LOAD-BEARING). Every Geely-brand headline range published in Thailand is NEDC. NEDC inflates WLTP by ~22–25 %. Never write an NEDC figure into range_wltp_km. Store the headline figure as range_nedc_km in trim_facts.extra_specs and derive WLTP as NEDC × 0.78 (or cross-check against EVKX.net's WLTP entries for the EX5).

PHEV / EREV exclusion (LOAD-BEARING). evth scope is BEV only. The only Geely-Holding products currently sold or shown in Thailand outside the separately-documented Volvo/Polestar/Zeekr docs are:

  • Geely EX5 (BEV — in scope)
  • Geely EX2 (BEV — in scope)
  • Geely Starray EM-i a.k.a. Geely EX5 EM-i (PHEV — OUT OF SCOPE; showcased at Motor Expo 2025)
  • Lynk & Co 08 EM-P (PHEV — OUT OF SCOPE; showcased at Motor Show 2025)
  • Lynk & Co 900 (PHEV — OUT OF SCOPE; showcased at Motor Show 2026) PHEV showcases are noted in the "Out of scope" section for completeness but DO NOT enter trims.

Sister-brand cross-link. Geely Holding's premium-tech BEV brand Zeekr (Radar Automotive Distribution Thailand) and the JV brands Volvo (Volvo Cars Thailand) and Polestar (Polestar Automotive Thailand) are documented in their own research files — db/research/zeekr.md, db/research/volvo.md, and (when written) db/research/polestar.md. Lotus in Thailand is handled by Masterpiece Motors but has no BEV on sale as of May 2026.

At a glance

  • Brand architecture (TH): Two Geely-Holding retail brands are in-scope for this doc — geely (mainline) and lynk-co (premium-sub). They operate via different Thai legal entities, do not share showrooms, and target different price tiers. Volvo, Polestar and Zeekr (also Geely-Holding) are covered separately.
  • Geely-brand Thailand entry: Geely EX5 RHD world-debut at the 41st Thailand International Motor Expo on 2024-11-28 (Bangkok), with 100+ orders in the first 3 days of the show (Geely Global — EX5 Thailand Motor Expo debut; paultan.org — 2024-11-29; MarkLines — Motor Expo 2024). First-batch deliveries to 84 customers on 2025-03-02 in Bangkok; total orders surpassed 1,000 by that date (Geely Global — handover ceremony; Automotive World press).
  • Geely distributor: Thonburi Neustern Co., Ltd. — a subsidiary of Thonburi Group (founded 1948; the long-time Thai distributor of Mercedes-Benz and DAF Trucks) (Thonburi Group — our business; Thonburi Neustern dealer page). This is structurally similar to Saleng/Saluedo handling MG — legacy Thai automotive distributor adding a Chinese NEV brand.
  • Geely Thailand BEV lineup (May 2026): 2 models, ~5 trims.
    • Geely EX5 — 60.22 kWh (Pro / Max) and 68.39 kWh (Max+) compact-mid SUV
    • Geely EX2 — 39.4 kWh (Pro / Max) + Shooting Star edition city hatchback
  • Geely Thailand price band (May 2026): ฿399,990 (EX2 Pro promo) – ฿899,000 (EX5 Max+).
  • Geely showrooms: Target 65 showrooms + service centers by end-2026, up from ~40 in early 2026 (Thairath EN — 65 showroom target; iSpeedeGazine — Geely Thonburi expansion).
  • 2026 Motor Show performance: 7,811 total bookings at the 47th Bangkok International Motor Show (Mar 23 – Apr 5, 2026) — rank #6 by brand. EX2: 6,105 units (78.2 % of bookings); EX5: 1,706 units (Autolifethailand — Motor Show 2026 bookings; 9CarThai recap).
  • Lynk & Co Thailand status: Not yet launched. Stand-only showcases at Bangkok International Motor Show 2025 (Lynk & Co 08 EM-P PHEV) and Motor Show 2026 (Lynk & Co 900 PHEV flagship). No retail website, no announced dealer network, no announced pricing. The legal entity Lynk Max (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (registered 2020-05-12 at 91/212 Suwinthawong, Min Buri, Bangkok) is presumed to be the distribution vehicle but the relationship to Lynk & Co HQ is [unverified] (D&B — Lynk Max Thailand profile; Tracxn — Lynk Max Thailand; AutoStation — Lynk 08 EM-P Motor Show 2025; BIMS — Lynk & Co 900).
  • Lynk & Co Thailand BEV lineup (May 2026): 0 BEV trims on sale. Both showcased models are PHEV (out of scope). The Lynk & Co 10 (formerly named Z10) is the brand's first BEV globally and is scheduled for Q2 2026 launch in China; no Thai timeline has been announced (CnEVPost — Lynk Co 10 Q2 launch; CarNewsChina — Lynk Co 10 production).

Geely Auto's Thailand presence is a velocity-over-portfolio play — just two BEVs in 18 months, but aggressively priced (EX5 cut from ฿859,000 launch to ฿699,000 / ฿849,000 in mid-2025, then EX2 launched at ฿399,990 promo for first 2,000 reservations) and distributed through Thonburi Group's established service infrastructure. Lynk & Co, in contrast, is showcase-only as of May 2026 — Geely Holding appears to be testing premium-segment receptivity at motor shows before committing a retail launch.

Brand architecture decision (evth)

Decision: evth treats Geely + Lynk & Co as TWO separate brands (geely, lynk-co) — distinct brands rows, distinct slugs, distinct brand pages. The DB already contains rows for both (geely with 2 trims, lynk-co empty).

Why

This follows the same logic as the Changan / Deepal / Avatr decision (see db/research/changan.md § "Brand architecture decision"):

  1. Retail experience is fully separated in Thailand. Geely operates under Thonburi Neustern's nationwide network (target 65 sites by end-2026); Lynk & Co, when it launches, is expected to operate under Lynk Max (Thailand) Co., Ltd. — a different legal entity at a different registered address.
  2. Pricing tiers don't overlap. Geely EX2 / EX5 sit at ฿400k–฿900k (mainstream); Lynk & Co's eventual lineup (08 EM-P in China at ¥195,800–258,800 ≈ ฿909k–฿1.2m; Z10 / Lynk 10 sedan at ¥206,800–306,800 ≈ ฿960k–฿1.42m) targets the ฿1m–฿2m premium segment.
  3. Thai press treats them as separate brands. Headlightmag, AutoStation and Autolifethailand all use "Lynk & Co" headlines without a Geely prefix.

Distribution & business

Geely (Thonburi Neustern Co., Ltd.)

Thonburi Group is one of Thailand's oldest automotive dealers, founded in 1948 by the Phusawang family. It has historically held Mercedes-Benz and DAF Trucks distributorships. The Geely distributorship is handled by a dedicated subsidiary, Thonburi Neustern Co., Ltd. (Thonburi Group — Thonburi Neustern page).

TH legal entity Lynk Max (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (corp ID 0105563071455) Distribution vehicle [unverified] — only the registration is public; no retail launch announced

Lynk Max Thailand was registered 2020-05-12 at 91/212 Suwinthawong, Min Buri, Bangkok — five years before the brand's stand-only motor show appearances. The lengthy gap between corporate registration and any retail activity is noteworthy and [unverified] as to strategic intent (D&B — Lynk Max Thailand).

Lynk & Co — premium-sport sub-brand (no BEV on sale in TH)

Lynk & Co is a Geely / Volvo / Zeekr Group three-way JV (founded 2016), positioned between Geely-brand mainstream and Polestar premium-performance. As of May 2026 the brand has zero BEV trims on sale in Thailand — only motor-show appearances of PHEV products, which are out of scope for evth.

Why this section exists

The brand is documented here because:

  1. The lynk-co slug already exists in the brands table (empty).
