Scope: BEV only. NIO Inc. is a pure-BEV manufacturer — every model from the three brands (NIO, Onvo, Firefly) is fully electric. No ICE or PHEV exists across the portfolio, which simplifies scope versus BMW / Mercedes / Volvo.

Critical scope caveat (LOAD-BEARING). The user brief for this research doc assumed a much broader NIO TH lineup (ET5, ET5T, ES6, ET7, ES7, ES8 etc. on sale by May 2026). That assumption is incorrect. As of 2026-05-15, the only NIO Inc. product on sale in Thailand is the Firefly hatchback — a single nameplate, single trim, launched 2026-03-24 at BIMS. The NIO core brand (ET5 / ES6 / ET7 / ES8 / etc.) and the Onvo sub-brand (L60 / L80 / L90) are publicly announced for "later 2026" but have:

• No confirmed Thai launch date
• No confirmed model selection (NIO has not stated which of its China lineup will come to TH)
• No confirmed pricing
• No confirmed Power Swap Station rollout schedule
• No confirmed Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) availability

This doc therefore covers Firefly in full (the only sellable nameplate) and NIO + Onvo as forward-looking sections flagged [announced — not yet on sale]. Re-run this research doc when NIO core brand models hit BIMS 2027 (typically late-March) or sooner if Thonburi Bluesky announces dates.

Range-standard hygiene. NIO publishes WLTP for export RHD markets (Firefly TH = 330 km WLTP) and NEDC for Thai marketing materials (Firefly TH = 400 km NEDC, less reliable). WLTP figures go directly to range_wltp_km. NEDC goes to range_nedc_km. Don't conflate. CLTC (Firefly = 420 km CLTC) is China-only — keep it as range_cltc_km for cross-reference but never surface it as the headline range in TH UI.

Brand vs sub-brand naming. NIO Inc. (the corporate parent) operates three distinct nameplates:

1. NIO (premium) — ET5 sedan / ES6 SUV / ET7 sedan / ES7 SUV / ES8 7-seat SUV / ET9 executive sedan / EC6 coupe-SUV. Tagline: "Blue sky coming."
2. Onvo / 乐道 (family / value-premium) — L60 mid SUV / L90 large SUV / L80 (May 2026, China). All share NIO's battery-swap infrastructure but at lower MSRP.
3. Firefly / 萤火虫 (compact / urban / NIO's "MINI rival") — Firefly hatchback (single model so far). Aimed at younger first-EV buyers. This is what's actually on sale in TH.

NIO Inc.'s Thailand story is just beginning. Where BMW, Mercedes, BYD, and MG have multi-year established positions, NIO arrived only in late 2025 (deal signing) and has just one product on sale (Firefly, since March 2026). The data velocity will be high through H2 2026 as NIO core brand and Onvo announce their TH lineups, but as of this document's researched_at date the catalogue is deliberately small and forward-looking. Treat the Onvo and NIO-core sections of this doc as research-in-progress and revisit aggressively. The Verification matrix at the end honestly flags Firefly as ◐ on several specs (because Headlightmag's spec sheet leaves some gaps that need cross-checking with NIO's global product portal — which has no Thai variant page as of May 2026, only Chinese + Singaporean).

The competitive context for Firefly is interesting: at ฿799,000 it's priced directly against the MG4 Lux (฿879k), Neta Aya (฿549k), GAC Aion Y Plus (฿849k), and BYD Dolphin (฿599k–฿859k) — all B-segment urban hatchbacks / small SUVs. But Firefly's premium-brand positioning (NIO-derived design language, 14-speaker Dolby Atmos audio, 27 storage compartments, glass roof, ventilated front seats as options) targets a customer who'd otherwise spend ฿1.0–1.3 m on a MINI Cooper SE (no longer sold in TH), Honda e:N1, or Volvo EX30 Single Motor. Firefly — compact urban hatchback

The Firefly (萤火虫 / yínghuǒchóng — Chinese for "firefly") is NIO Inc.'s third brand, launched in China on 2024-12-21 and revealed as a global RHD-capable product from day one. The car is positioned as a premium B-segment hatchback — direct rival to the MINI Cooper SE, Honda e, and (in spirit) the now-discontinued Smart EQ fortwo, with a deliberate "small but luxurious" pitch. It uses a simpler voice assistant called "Lumo" with a different visual identity (no physical dome on the dashboard — Lumo is a software-only avatar on the central touchscreen). NIO globally operates 3,400+ Power Swap Stations as of May 2026, having completed 100 million swaps cumulatively in February 2026. The PSS network is split:

• China: ~3,200 stations across all provinces
• Europe: ~30 stations (Norway, Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark — Gen 3 + Gen 4)
• Middle East / UAE: small handful (Gen 4) — newest deployments

Thailand: 0 stations as of May 2026. No deployment timeline announced. The Firefly TH spec sheet confirms battery-swap is hardware-supported but Headlightmag and Paultan both explicitly flag the infrastructure as "not yet available in Thailand."

The user brief's assumption of "Bangkok + Pattaya + Hua Hin + Phuket" PSS rollout is forward-looking speculation, not yet publicly committed. NIO Houses in Thailand — [announced — none open]

NIO Houses are NIO core brand's premium retail format — a hybrid showroom + members' lounge + co-working space + kids' play area + café, typically located in high-end shopping districts (precedent: NIO House Beijing Wangfujing, NIO House Amsterdam Vijzelstraat, NIO House Oslo Karl Johans gate). 171 NIO Houses globally as of May 2026.
