Mercedes-Benz in Thailand
Canonical research doc. Source-of-truth for every Mercedes-Benz fact used by seed scripts, the brand page, and the AI advisor. Cite every claim inline. Mark
[unverified]rather than guess.Scope: BEV only. Mercedes-Benz Thailand also sells a broad ICE + PHEV lineup (A-Class, C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, GLA/GLB/GLC/ GLE/GLS PHEV, Maybach S-Class V12, AMG GT, etc.). Those are out of evth Phase 1 scope and explicitly excluded from this document. Only models with a fully-battery-electric powertrain on mercedes-benz.co.th's TH price list as of May 2026 are documented here.
Range-standard hygiene (LOAD-BEARING). Mercedes-Benz publishes WLTP for the TH market across all its electric models. WLTP figures can be written directly to
range_wltp_km— no NEDC/CLTC conversion is needed. Cross-check against EV-Database (which uses the same Mercedes-published WLTP numbers).EQ sub-brand retirement. Mercedes globally announced in early 2023 that the standalone "Mercedes-EQ" sub-brand would be phased out from 2024 onwards in favour of integrating electric models into the master Mercedes-Benz naming structure with an "EQ Technology" suffix. The G 580 with EQ Technology (Oct 2024) and the new CLA 250+ with EQ Technology (BIMS 2026) are the first Thai-market models launched under the new convention. The existing EQA / EQB / EQE / EQS / Maybach EQS SUV are still sold under their original "Mercedes-EQ" names — Mercedes has confirmed the EQE Saloon + EQE SUV will be discontinued globally in 2026, after which the new electric C-Class (on MMA / MB.EA Medium platform) will replace them. (Electrek 2023; Electrek 2025-02; ElectricarWorld)
Platform transition (MMA vs EVA2). Today's TH-market BEVs sit on three different architectures:
- EVA2 (electric-only, 400 V) — EQS, EQS SUV, Maybach EQS SUV, EQE Saloon, EQE SUV.
- MFA2-derived (shared with combustion GLA/GLB, 400 V) — EQA, EQB.
- G-Wagen ladder frame (electric drive grafted to the ICE G-Class chassis, 400 V) — G 580 with EQ Technology.
- MMA (new dedicated BEV platform, 800 V, debuted 2025) — CLA with EQ Technology. MMA is the successor architecture; over 2026–2028 it will replace EVA2 entirely (electric C-Class, electric GLC, electric E-Class).
⚠ Data-quality note — bad aggregator-import naming (2026-05-27)
A pre-pattern aggregator import created four mislabeled, spec-bare trim rows where the model slug and trim name did not match the same car. These are import artefacts, not real Mercedes products. The canonical seed (
db/seed-mercedes-benz.ts) already models them correctly under their proper models; this note records the corrections so the provenance trail is explicit and the wrong rows can be deleted/re-mapped. No BEV scope is lost — all four cars the names describe are real BEVs already documented below.
| Bad import row (slug → name) | What the name actually is | Correct model | Correct trim | BEV? |
|---|---|---|---|---|
eqa/current/eqs-450-4matic-suv-amg-dynamic "EQS 450 4MATIC SUV AMG Dynamic" |
An EQS SUV trim filed under EQA by mistake | eqs-suv (EQS SUV, X296, large_suv) |
450-4matic-amg-dynamic — "EQS 450 4MATIC SUV AMG Dynamic" |
yes |
maybach-eqs-suv/current/s-580-e-premium "S 580 e Premium" |
"S 580 e" is the ICE S-Class PHEV name — a mis-tag. The real TH Maybach EQS SUV is the BEV Maybach EQS 680 SUV, not a PHEV | maybach-eqs-suv (Maybach EQS SUV, X296 Maybach, large_suv) |
eqs-680-suv — "Maybach EQS 680 SUV" |
yes (the BEV 680; the "S 580 e" PHEV name is wrong and is not listed) |
eqa/current/g-580-with-eq-technology-edition-one "G 580 with EQ Technology EDITION ONE" |
The electric G-Class (G-Wagen), filed under EQA | g-class-electric (G-Class Electric, large_suv) |
580-with-eq-technology-edition-one — "G 580 with EQ Technology EDITION ONE" |
yes |

The electric G-Class base trim, filed under EQA | g-class-electric (G-Class Electric, large_suv) |
580-with-eq-technology — "G 580 with EQ Technology" |
yes |
Important: the only genuine EQA trim in TH is the EQA 250
Progressive (see EQA section). None of the four bad rows belong to
EQA. The "S 580 e" string is the one to watch — if any future import
or listing surfaces a Maybach/S-Class 580 e / e PHEV badge it
must be rejected (PHEV, out of BEV scope); the only Maybach BEV in TH
is the EQS 680 SUV.

At a glance
- Distributor model: Wholly-owned subsidiary. Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited is a 100 %-owned subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz Group AG, with German management oversight. Unlike BYD (single Thai distributor Rêver), MG (JV with CP Group), or Tesla (direct subsidiary, no third-party assembly), Mercedes operates a subsidiary + Thai CKD partner model — vehicles are imported CBU or assembled by Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant (TAAP) in Samut Prakan, a Thai-family-owned (Thonburi Group) contract assembler with a 47-year partnership history with Mercedes. (Mercedes-Benz Group careers locations; Khaosod English — TAAP contract extension 2024)
- Entered Thailand: Mercedes-Benz vehicles have been imported into Thailand since 1961, making it one of the longest-serving foreign automakers in the country. The TAAP CKD partnership began in 1979 (47 years as of 2026). The current Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited entity was reorganised in 1998. The first BEV in TH (EQS 450+) launched 2022-05-25 as CBU, with CKD EQS 500 4MATIC AMG Premium following 2022-11-14. (Paultan 2021; Paultan 2022; Headlightmag CKD EQS 500)
- First BEV: EQS 450+ AMG Premium / EQS 450+ Edition 1, launched 2022-05-25 at ฿8,570,000 / ฿8,870,000 CBU from Sindelfingen (Autolifethailand 2022; Grandprix). Production transitioned to CKD-TH (TAAP) for the EQS 500 4MATIC in November 2022 — the first CKD BEV ever produced in Thailand (WapCar).

- Current BEV price band: ฿2,290,000 (CLA 250+ EQ Technology, CKD-TH) – ฿12,620,000 (Maybach EQS SUV 680, CBU-Tuscaloosa).
- CKD vs CBU split (May 2026):
- CKD-TH at TAAP: EQS Saloon, EQS SUV, EQE Saloon, EQE SUV,
CLA EV
[unverified — Thairath says "locally assembled"]. - CBU-Rastatt Germany: EQA, EQB (built at Rastatt — Mercedes' compact-car plant).
- CBU-Tuscaloosa USA: Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV 680 (built on the same line as the ICE GLE/GLS).
- CBU-Graz Austria (Magna Steyr): G 580 with EQ Technology (G-Class is exclusively built at Magna Steyr Graz).
- CKD-TH at TAAP: EQS Saloon, EQS SUV, EQE Saloon, EQE SUV,
CLA EV
- Local plant: Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant (TAAP) in Samut Prakan (Thonburi Group, family-owned, founded 1948). Mercedes-TAAP CKD partnership since 1979; the 200,000th Mercedes built in TH rolled off the line in January 2024, appropriately an EQS BEV (MarkLines; Nation Thailand — German president visit). Battery packs are assembled at the adjacent Thonburi Energy Storage Systems (TESM) plant in Bangkok, opened December 2019 — one of nine Mercedes battery facilities globally (Paultan 2019; Green Car Congress).
- Showrooms (May 2026): 40 authorised dealers across 37 cities per ZigWheels (down slightly from a peak of 43 in 2019), with multi-dealer presence in Bangkok and single dealers in major upcountry cities (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phuket, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, etc.) (ZigWheels — Mercedes dealers).
- 2023 total Mercedes-Benz TH sales: ~12,000 units (ICE + PHEV + BEV combined) (Nation Thailand).
- 2024 total Mercedes-Benz TH sales: 9,189 units (−30 % YoY)
per Nation Thailand. Within that, ~4,887 units were BEV-eligible
premium volume per CarNewsChina cross-check
[unverified — CNC figure may conflate Mercedes total with BEV-only](Nation Thailand; CarNewsChina). - 2025 target: >10,000 units total (Mercedes-Benz Thailand CEO Mathias Vogt) (MarkLines — sales target).
- BEV-only market share: <2 % of TH's 70,137-unit 2024 BEV
market — Mercedes is small-volume premium in a Chinese-EV-
dominated market. Volumes are in the 300–800/year range per
individual nameplate
[unverified — needs DLT data].
Mercedes-Benz occupies a distinctive structural position in Thailand's BEV market: it is the only luxury European brand with a deep CKD-TH local-content strategy (Volvo also CKD-assembles the EX30 at Geely Auto Industries in Rayong, but BMW + Audi + Porsche are CBU-only). The Thonburi/TAAP partnership lets Mercedes assemble EQS / EQE locally with Thai-made battery packs (TESM), capturing the same excise-tax local-content advantage that BYD/MG/GWM/Aion get from their Rayong plants — except in the ฿2.5–7 m premium band where Chinese rivals barely compete. The EQS 450 4MATIC SUV at ฿5.99 m CKD lands in the same price band as a BYD Sealion 7 Performance, yet the only direct competitors at that price point are the BMW i7 / i5 (both CBU) and a much smaller-volume Zeekr or Hyptec HT — Mercedes' CKD position is structurally protected. The aggressive 2024–2025 price cuts (EQE 300: ฿3.97 m → ฿2.89 m, −27 %; EQE SUV 350: ฿5.65 m → ฿3.79 m, −33 %; EQS 450+: ฿8.57 m → ฿5.95 m, −31 %) reflect both the global BEV-demand softening and Mercedes specifically defending CKD volume against the BYD/Aion premium push (Hyptec HT, BYD Sealion 7 Performance, Zeekr 7X).

Sales / market position
2023 total Mercedes-Benz TH sales: ~12,000 units (ICE + PHEV + BEV) (Nation Thailand)
2024 total Mercedes-Benz TH sales: 9,189 units (−30 % YoY) per Nation Thailand. CarNewsChina lists 4,887 — likely BEV-specific or a different definition; treat as
[unverified]2025 sales target: >10,000 units total (MarkLines)
BEV-specific market share (2024): <2 % of TH BEV market (TH BEV total 70,137 units in 2024; Mercedes BEV-share
[unverified — needs DLT breakout])Per-nameplate volume estimates (May 2026):
- EQE SUV: largest BEV volume — ~300–600/yr
[unverified] - EQS SUV: ~200–400/yr (after launch ramp)
- EQE 300 Saloon: ~150–300/yr (post-2025 price cut)
- EQS 450+ Saloon: ~50–150/yr
- Maybach EQS 680: <50/yr (low-volume luxury)
- G 580: <50/yr (low-volume luxury)
- EQA, EQB: ~100–200/yr each
- CLA EV: TBD — too new (BIMS 2026 launch only)
- EQE SUV: largest BEV volume — ~300–600/yr
Comparative position: In the 2024 TH BEV race, the Top 4 BEV brands were BYD (35.3 % share), MG, Neta, Tesla. Mercedes ranked outside the top 10 by BEV volume (~5th-6th in BMW + Audi
- Volvo premium-tier subset).
Notable industry events: Mercedes-Benz Thailand CEO Mathias Vogt publicly rejected price-war pressure, stating Mercedes will "not compromise on pricing" despite the stagnant 2024 market (Nation Thailand) — this stance was somewhat contradicted by the August 2025 EQE price-cut wave, suggesting strategic walk-back.
Customer feedback (Pantip / general):
[unverified — needs research gap-closer pass]. Common topics:- CKD vs CBU pricing debates
- 5-yr unlimited-km warranty positively viewed
- Sharge DC-charging access (1-yr free) seen as competitive vs rivals (BMW's IONITY/EleX access; Tesla's Supercharger network)
Known DB drift / cleanup actions
After auditing the existing DB state against this research doc, the following cleanup actions are required before re-seeding:
1. EQG / G-Class Electric duplicate consolidation (HIGH PRIORITY)
The DB has TWO model rows for the same Thai-market vehicle:
eqgmodel with trimg-580-eq-techMY2026 (upcoming flag)g-class-electricmodel with trim580-with-eq-technologyMY2026 ฿9,500,000
Action: Delete the eqg model entirely. The correct canonical
slug is g-class-electric with trims:
580-with-eq-technology(฿9,500,000)580-with-eq-technology-edition-one(฿12,200,000)
The "EQG" naming was Mercedes' working concept name circa 2021–2023; they explicitly renamed the production car to "G 580 with EQ Technology" for the 2024-04 reveal — there is no "EQG" production model.
2. Maybach EQS SUV MY2024 → MY2026 consolidation
The DB has two rows for what appears to be a single trim with a price history:
eqs-680-suvMY2024 at ฿12,500,000eqs-680-suv(or680) MY2026 at ฿12,620,000
Action: Verify whether the MY2024 row is a discontinued
predecessor with a distinct spec, or simply the same trim with the
original launch MSRP. Per primary press coverage, both years are
the same X296-Maybach generation, same 658 PS / 118 kWh / 615 km
WLTP. Recommendation: Treat as one current trim row
(maybach-eqs-680 MY2026 ฿12,620,000) with a price-history entry
showing the 2024-11 launch at ฿12,500,000. Delete the MY2024 trim
row.
3. EQS Saloon 500 4MATIC trim (MAY-BE-DISCONTINUED)
The original CKD EQS 500 4MATIC AMG Premium MY2023 (฿7,900,000)
does not appear on ZigWheels' current price list. Action:
Verify with mercedes-benz.co.th configurator. If discontinued,
add 500-4matic-amg-premium as a status: discontinued row with
predecessor_slug: null and the 2022-11 launch date.
4. EQS Saloon 450+ MY2022 → MY2024-facelift transition
The original CBU EQS 450+ AMG Premium MY2022 (฿8,570,000) and
EQS 450+ Edition 1 (฿8,870,000) were launch-only trims, replaced
by the facelifted EQS 450+ AMG Dynamic (฿5,950,000) in August
2024. Action: Add the launch trims as status: discontinued
predecessors of the current 450-plus-amg-dynamic; ensure
price_history captures all three reference prices.
5. CLA EV (NEW — needs adding)
CLA 250+ with EQ Technology launched 2026-03-27 at ฿2,290,000
CKD-TAAP. Action: Create new model row cla-electric (or
cla if Mercedes blends ICE + BEV under one model line — verify
the disambiguation), generation c174-ev, trim cla-250-plus-eq-technology
MY2026 ฿2,290,000.
6. EQE 53 4MATIC+ Saloon trim audit
The DB lists EQE Saloon trim 300 only. The lineup also includes
Mercedes-AMG EQE 53 4MATIC+ at ฿4,890,000 (current, post-2025
price-cut). Action: Add as trim 53-4matic-plus under model
eqe-saloon.
7. EQE SUV trim audit
The DB lists EQE SUV trim 350-4matic-suv-electric-art only.
The lineup also includes AMG Line (฿3,690,000) and AMG Dynamic
(฿3,790,000). Action: Add the two missing trims.
8. EQS SUV 500 4MATIC trim addition
The DB lists EQS SUV trim 450-4matic-amg-dynamic only. ZigWheels
lists a second trim 500 4MATIC SUV AMG Dynamic at ฿6,950,000.
Action: Add as a second trim under EQS SUV. Specs and launch
date [unverified — gap-closer needed].
9. Pre-facelift EQA / EQB rows
The DB shows current EQA Progressive ฿2,490,000 and EQB Sport
฿2,550,000 / AMG Premium ฿2,900,000 — but these appear to be
post-2024-facelift trims. The pre-facelift EQA 250 (66.5 kWh, 426 km)
and EQB 250 AMG Line (฿3,020,000, 66.5 kWh, 460 km) launch trims
should be added as status: discontinued predecessors with
launch dates.

- CLA EV battery chemistry — NMC assumed but Mercedes has indicated LFP variants for MMA-platform entry models in some markets.
- Maybach EQS SUV Night Series TH availability — global lineup includes Night Series variant; TH spec unclear.
- Dealer / showroom count May 2026 — ZigWheels says 40; verify against mercedes-benz.co.th dealer locator.
- 2024 / 2025 BEV-only DLT registration breakouts — needed for market-position section.
- Mercedes-Benz Thailand CEO May 2026 — Mathias Vogt confirmed 2025; verify still in role.
Low priority (P2)
- EQS / EQE / EQA / EQB / Maybach colour palettes + hex codes — no Mercedes-specific colour scrape yet; need mercedes-benz.co.th configurator extraction.
- AC charging spec per trim — global EQS/EQS SUV/Maybach offer optional 22 kW; TH-spec confirmation needed per trim.
- Wheel sizes per trim — currently inferred from AMG Line vs AMG Dynamic vs Electric Art package; needs per-trim confirmation.
- Cell suppliers (CATL vs LG vs SK On) — TH-spec packs
assembled by TESM; cell supplier

- BEV models on sale (May 2026): CLA Saloon with EQ Technology (D-segment sedan, MMA, BIMS 2026 launch) · EQA (compact SUV) · EQB (compact 5–7-seat SUV) · EQE Saloon (E-segment sedan) · EQE SUV (mid-large SUV) · EQS Saloon (F-segment sedan) · EQS SUV (full-size SUV) · Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV (ultra-luxury SUV) · G-Class Electric (G 580 with EQ Technology) (off-road SUV). 9 nameplates total. (ZigWheels TH — Mercedes electric)
- Total current BEV trims on sale (May 2026): ~14 — 1 CLA, 1 EQA, 2 EQB, 2 EQE Saloon (300 + AMG 53), 3 EQE SUV (Electric Art / AMG Line / AMG Dynamic), 1 EQS Saloon (450+ AMG Dynamic), 2 EQS SUV (450 4MATIC AMG Dynamic + 500 4MATIC AMG Dynamic), 1 Maybach EQS SUV 680, 1 G 580 (+ EDITION ONE as separate trim).
- Current BEV price band: ฿2,290,000 (CLA 250+ EQ Technology, CKD-TH) – ฿12,620,000 (Maybach EQS SUV 680, CBU-Tuscaloosa).
- CKD vs CBU split (May 2026):
- CKD-TH at TAAP: EQS Saloon, EQS SUV, EQE Saloon, EQE SUV,
CLA EV
[unverified — Thairath says "locally assembled"]. - CBU-Rastatt Germany: EQA, EQB (built at Rastatt — Mercedes' compact-car plant).
- CBU-Tuscaloosa USA: Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV 680 (built on the same line as the ICE GLE/GLS).
- CBU-Graz Austria (Magna Steyr): G 580 with EQ Technology (G-Class is exclusively built at Magna Steyr Graz).
- CKD-TH at TAAP: EQS Saloon, EQS SUV, EQE Saloon, EQE SUV,
CLA EV
- Local plant: Thonburi Automotive Assembly Plant (TAAP) in Samut Prakan (Thonburi Group, family-owned, founded 1948). Mercedes-TAAP CKD partnership since 1979; the 200,000th Mercedes built in TH rolled off the line in January 2024, appropriately an EQS BEV (MarkLines; Nation Thailand — German president visit). Battery packs are assembled at the adjacent Thonburi Energy Storage Systems (TESM) plant in Bangkok, opened December 2019 — one of nine Mercedes battery facilities globally (Paultan 2019; Green Car Congress).
- Showrooms (May 2026): 40 authorised dealers across 37 cities per ZigWheels (down slightly from a peak of 43 in 2019), with multi-dealer presence in Bangkok and single dealers in major upcountry cities (Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Nakhon Ratchasima, Phuket, Udon Thani, Ubon Ratchathani, etc.) (ZigWheels — Mercedes dealers).
- 2023 total Mercedes-Benz TH sales: ~12,000 units (ICE + PHEV + BEV combined) (Nation Thailand).
- 2024 total Mercedes-Benz TH sales: 9,189 units (−30 % YoY)
per Nation Thailand. Within that, ~4,887 units were BEV-eligible
premium volume per CarNewsChina cross-check
[unverified — CNC figure may conflate Mercedes total with BEV-only](Nation Thailand; CarNewsChina). - 2025 target: >10,000 units total (Mercedes-Benz Thailand CEO Mathias Vogt) (MarkLines — sales target).
- BEV-only market share: <2 % of TH's 70,137-unit 2024 BEV
market — Mercedes is small-volume premium in a Chinese-EV-
dominated market. Volumes are in the 300–800/year range per
individual nameplate
[unverified — needs DLT data].
Mercedes-Benz occupies a distinctive structural position in Thailand's BEV market: it is the only luxury European brand with a deep CKD-TH local-content strategy (Volvo also CKD-assembles the EX30 at Geely Auto Industries in Rayong, but BMW + Audi + Porsche are CBU-only). The Thonburi/TAAP partnership lets Mercedes assemble EQS / EQE locally with Thai-made battery packs (TESM), capturing the same excise-tax local-content advantage that BYD/MG/GWM/Aion get from their Rayong plants — except in the ฿2.5–7 m premium band where Chinese rivals barely compete. The EQS 450 4MATIC SUV at ฿5.99 m CKD lands in the same price band as a BYD Sealion 7 Performance, yet the only direct competitors at that price point are the BMW i7 / i5 (both CBU) and a much smaller-volume Zeekr or Hyptec HT — Mercedes' CKD position is structurally protected. The aggressive 2024–2025 price cuts (EQE 300: ฿3.97 m → ฿2.89 m, −27 %; EQE SUV 350: ฿5.65 m → ฿3.79 m, −33 %; EQS 450+: ฿8.57 m → ฿5.95 m, −31 %) reflect both the global BEV-demand softening and Mercedes specifically defending CKD volume against the BYD/Aion premium push (Hyptec HT, BYD Sealion 7 Performance, Zeekr 7X).
Distribution & business
Mercedes-Benz (Thailand) Limited is the in-country sales,
marketing, distribution, and aftersales subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz
Group AG. Headquartered in Bangkok, the entity has Mathias Vogt
as President & CEO [unverified May-2026 — last confirmed 2025].
Unlike BYD (single distributor Rêver Automotive) or MG (JV via
SAIC-CP), Mercedes-Benz Thailand is a direct subsidiary in the
same vein as Tesla (Thailand) Co., Ltd. or GWM Thailand — but with
the addition of a long-standing third-party CKD assembler (TAAP).
Mercedes-Benz Thailand Limited — corporate
- Corporate identity: Subsidiary of Mercedes-Benz AG (Stuttgart) via Mercedes-Benz Group AG (the holding company since the 2022 Daimler Truck spin-off).

- Opened: 2019-12-05.
- Investment: > €100 million (joint).
- Designation: Mercedes' 3rd PHEV battery plant globally at opening (after Kamenz Germany + Beijing China), later expanded to BEV-pack capability.
- Packs assembled (PHEV phase, 2019+): C300e, E300e, GLC300e, GLC Coupé 300e, GLE350de.
- Packs assembled (BEV phase, 2022+): EQS 107.8 kWh, EQS SUV
118 kWh, EQE 89 kWh, EQE SUV 89 kWh

Range conflict (EQB): DB lists 466 km / 478 km — global spec is 478 km (EQB 250+ FWD) and ~423 km (EQB 350 4MATIC AWD). The DB's 478 km AMG Premium figure may be the 250+-spec figure mis-mapped to the 350 4MATIC. Needs primary TH confirmation on the spec sheet for each trim.

- Battery: NMC, 116 kWh usable

- EQS Saloon 500 4MATIC discontinuation date — needs primary confirmation.
Medium priority (P1)
- EQE 300 CKD-TH transition date — Autoinfo says ฿2,890,000 post-Aug-2025; the −27 % cut size suggests CKD; needs Bangkok Post / Headlightmag confirmation.
- CLA EV CKD-TH confirmation — Thairath EN says "locally assembled"; needs Mercedes Thai press kit confirming TAAP.
- CLA EV battery chemistry — NMC assumed but Mercedes has indicated LFP variants for MMA-platform entry models in some markets.
- Maybach EQS SUV Night Series TH availability — global lineup includes Night Series variant; TH spec unclear.
- Dealer / showroom count May 2026 — ZigWheels says 40; verify against mercedes-benz.co.th dealer locator.
- 2024 / 2025 BEV-only DLT registration breakouts — needed for market-position section.
