Neta in Thailand
Canonical research doc. Source-of-truth for every Neta fact used by seed scripts, the brand page, and the AI advisor. Cite every claim inline. Mark
[unverified]rather than guess. This is a fall-from-grace research doc. Unlike every other brand in
db/research/, Neta's most important "fact" is its distress: parent company Hozon entered bankruptcy reorganisation in China on 2025-06-12, the Thai dealer network has collapsed from ~66 to ~40 outlets in five months, customer deposit-refund and warranty disputes are active in the Thai Consumer Council, and a Thai class-action lawsuit was approved for filing in July 2025. The lineup that ZigWheels and the Neta TH website still display (Neta V / V-II / X) is largely clearance inventory, not active manufacturing. No price quoted on Neta TH's site as of May 2026 should be assumed bankable without first checking dealer status.Range-standard hygiene (LOAD-BEARING). Neta publishes NEDC for every Thai-market model. NEDC inflates WLTP by ~17–22 %. Never write an NEDC figure into
range_wltp_km. Store the headline figure asrange_nedc_kmintrim_facts.extra_specs, and derive WLTP as NEDC × 0.83 (the Neta V is one of the few Neta nameplates with a TH-published WLTP — 320 km WLTP vs 384 km NEDC, a 0.833 ratio per Autolifethailand).Naming hygiene — Neta V vs V-II vs Aya. Globally the same car nameplate has three names. In Thailand the original 2022-launch hatchback was sold as "Neta V" (38.5 kWh NMC, then 40.7 kWh LFP from MY2023). In March 2024 the facelifted version launched as "Neta V-II" (36.1 kWh LFP, Thai CKD) — in China the same facelift is sold as "Neta Aya" (哪吒 Aya); Singapore launched it directly as "Aya" in January 2025 (Wikipedia — Neta Aya). The Thai market never used the "Aya" name. All three nameplates therefore describe the same
modelsrow in evth's DB. The currentneta-v/v/v-iimodel duplicates are drift and need consolidation (see "Known DB drift" section below).
At a glance
- HEADLINE — brand in distress, May 2026. Parent company Hozon Auto entered bankruptcy reorganisation in China on 2025-06-12 (Bamboo Works; Nation Thailand 2025-06-22). Thai dealer network has contracted from 66 outlets in March 2025 → 53 in May 2025 → ~40 as of June 2025 (Autolifethailand 2025-06-04). Thai assembly stopped completely by mid-2025 awaiting new investor capital; Thai Consumer Protection Council approved a class-action lawsuit in 2025-07-04 over warranty + spare parts breaches (Chiang Rai Times; Indonesia Tribune).
- Distributor: Neta Auto (Thailand) Co., Ltd. — wholly-owned subsidiary of Hozon Auto. Originally signed an MOU with Arun Plus (PTT subsidiary) for CKD assembly study in 2022, but ultimately partnered with Bangchan General Assembly (BGA) for actual production (Paultan 2022-08-26; Neta TH).
- Entered Thailand: 2022-08-24 (Bangkok brand launch + Neta V official-price reveal); first customer deliveries 2022-09-28; signed Thai government EV 3.0 incentive MOU 2022-11-24.
- Models historically sold in TH: 3 nameplates:
- Neta V (Aug 2022 launch, CBU-China, 38.5 kWh NMC initially → 40.7 kWh LFP MY2023; current MSRP ฿549,000 per ZigWheels but effectively clearance-only)
- Neta V-II (March 2024, Thai CKD, facelift of V — Chinese-market name "Neta Aya"; current MSRP ฿549–569k; fire-sale at ฿299–319k from 2025-06-04)
- Neta X (July 2024, CBU-China then CKD-TH from late 2024; current MSRP ฿739–799k; stock depleted by mid-2025 per Autolifethailand)
- Models shown but NOT launched in TH: Neta GT (sports coupé, shown at Motor Expo 2023 + 2024), Neta L (range-extender mid-SUV, unveiled China April 2024), Neta S (sedan + Shooting Brake, unveiled at BIMS 2025). None received a Thai launch price. The promised "one new model per year from 2025" cadence (BitAuto) collapsed with the parent.
- Total BEV trims documented (May 2026): 7 active trim rows across V / V-II / X. All 3 V-family rows describe the same nameplate — see DB drift section.
- Current price band (nominal): ฿299,000 (V-II fire sale, no warranty) – ฿799,000 (Neta X Smart) — but dealer availability is the binding constraint, not list price.
- 2024 sales (Jan–Nov): 6,534 units, −45.8 % YoY (Nation Thailand). Full-year 2024 ≈ 7,900 units (Bitauto).
- 2025 sales (Jan–May): 1,256–1,067 units, −48.5 % YoY; EV market share collapsed from 12 % (2023) → 4 % (Jan–May 2025) per DLT data (Khaosod English).
- Cumulative Thai owners (mid-2025): >25,000 per Sun Baolong, May 2025 (Nation Thailand). Roughly 22,000+ still active per Autolifethailand June 2025.
- Local plant: Bangchan General Assembly (BGA), Min Buri district, Bangkok — Hozon Auto's first overseas plant. Capacity 20,000 units/year. CKD of V-II began 2024-03-15; CKD of X began late 2024. Production halted by mid-2025 awaiting investor capital.
- Cumulative net losses (Thai entity 2023): −฿1.8 bn (vs +฿80.77 m profit 2022). 2019–2023 cumulative loss ฿1.72 bn against ฿7.78 bn revenue (Nation Thailand).
- EV 3.0 obligation overhang: As of June 2025 Neta Thailand still owes ~21,440 vehicles in compensatory CKD production to qualify for EV 3.0 import duty rebates already paid out (only ~4,000 of 19,000 required units delivered) — Thai Excise Department demanded an additional ฿50 m bank guarantee (Nation Thailand 2025-06-25; Autolifethailand).
Neta arrived in Thailand in mid-2022 with what looked like a winning formula: a sub-฿550k city EV undercutting the BYD Atto 3 / MG ZS EV by ฿300k+, paired with a then-novel CKD-Thailand commitment using the Bangchan plant. Through 2023 the brand was Thailand's #2 BEV brand by registrations behind only BYD (Carnewschina). Within 18 months the model fell apart: Hozon's China business suffered a liquidity crisis through 2024 (CATL stopped battery shipments over unpaid debts, R&D salaries cut 5–30 %), the Thai unit booked a ฿1.8 bn loss in 2023, the brand was caught in a Reuters fake-sales-inflation scandal (Hozon inflated sales by 64,719 units between Jan-2023 and Mar-2024 via advance insurance schemes per Hozon Auto Wikipedia), 400 jobs were cut at the BGA plant in December 2024, and a court-supervised reorganisation was opened in China on June 12, 2025. The Thai government and the National EV Policy Committee are watching but, critically, have not extended the EV 3.0 production deadline as of May 2026 — leaving Neta Thailand exposed to potential subsidy clawback (Bangkok Post — "may have to repay Thai subsidies").
This makes Neta the most data-rich case study in evth's price-intelligence dataset: an entire BEV brand's price arc, from launch promo through positioning cuts through panic clearance, all within 36 months.
The Hozon bankruptcy / restructuring story
Distinguish carefully. What happened in China is a court-supervised reorganisation under PRC Enterprise Bankruptcy Law — analogous to US Chapter 11, not Chapter 7. Hozon has not been liquidated. Neta Thailand has consistently insisted that it is a separate legal entity and "not subject to" the parent's bankruptcy — a position the Thai Ministry of Finance has formally confirmed (Nation Thailand 2025-06-25). In practice, however, the Thai unit's revenue, parts supply, engineering support, and brand credibility all flow from the parent — and all have been disrupted.

Thai-specific impact
Dealer network collapse (timeline)

— |
| 2026-05 | 56 listed on ZigWheels TH cross-ref of Neta TH dealer-finder | ZigWheels (figure unreliable; aggregator stale data probable) |
The June 2025 collapse was triggered by:
- Dealer protests at Excise Department (Thai Examiner 2025-06-13) — 18 Neta dealers filed a complaint demanding recovery of >฿200 m in unpaid debts owed by Neta Auto Thailand
- Mass employee resignations (Khaosod English) — staff at HQ dropped from ~50 to ~40 with further reductions expected
- Chiang Rai showroom shutdown (Chiang Rai Times) — provincial showroom closures cascading
The fire sale — Neta V-II at ฿299,000
The defining inflection moment. On 2025-06-04 representatives at remaining dealer pages announced (Khaosod English; Khaosod English X post):
- Neta V-II at ฿299,000 (or ฿319,000 with VAT) — but with all warranties stripped — versus a launch list price of ฿549–569k (−45 to −47 %)
- Stock estimated at ~400 Neta V-II units remaining, earmarked for export/fleet sales rather than retail
- Neta X inventory completely depleted by this point
- Customers ordering at the fire-sale price received no manufacturer warranty — a critical detail for evth's "should I buy a Neta in May 2026" advisor logic
This pricing constitutes a −฿250,000 / −45 % cut against the already-discounted ฿549k V-II Lite list price and a −฿270,000 / −47 % cut against the V-II Smart, in 14 months — possibly the single largest percentage price collapse on any current Thai BEV model.
Customer / owner impact
- Service centre status: Many service centres still nominally open but lack working capital for warranty claims — repairs depend on funding from China being released first (Autolifethailand; Rest of World).
- Spare parts: Some customers report >10-month waits for spare parts (Chiang Rai Times). Neta Thailand opened a new Spare Parts Distribution Centre on Phetkasem Road (4,000 m², partner Nakhonchaisri Automobile Co., Ltd., capacity 120,000 SKUs) with operations starting May 2025 (Neta TH; Grandprix) — but practical impact on owner experience appears limited.
- Warranty coverage: Original purchase came with 5 yr / 150,000 km vehicle warranty + 8 yr / 180,000 km battery warranty (V-II reservations received an "exclusive lifetime battery warranty"). Whether these will be honoured depends on Hozon emerging from reorganisation and Neta Auto Thailand's solvency — a binary risk for owner advisory.
- Class-action lawsuit: Thailand Consumer Protection Council's Subcommittee for Screening Litigation approved a class-action lawsuit against Neta on 2025-07-04 (Chiang Rai Times;
Indonesia Tribune) — alleging service-centre refusal to repair, spare-parts unavailability, and demanding refunds. Filed by the Consumer Council under Thailand's 2015 Class Action Act. Status as of May 2026
[unverified]. - Customer deposit refunds: Multiple complaints reported to Consumer Council on 2025-06-10 (Nation Thailand). No public refund policy from Neta TH found. Individual buyers have initiated unilateral refund-claim processes.

Executive statements / quotes — Sun Baolong, GM Neta Auto Thailand
The same executive made markedly different public statements across 3 months:
- 2025-03-24 (BIMS 2025): "[Neta TH] will continue electric vehicle manufacturing in Thailand at full speed from June" after settling supplier debts in April–May. Targets 10,000 BEV sales in 2025, aim to become Thailand's #2 BEV brand, 50,000 sales / 6 models by 2029 (Nation Thailand 2025-03-25).
- 2025-04-29 (Phetkasem parts centre): "Currently, NETA serves more than 25,000 customers across Thailand … reflects our strong commitment to elevating the quality of after-sales service" (Neta TH).
- 2025-05-16 (denial statement): Insists Hozon "is actively resuming normal operations through organisational optimisation"; characterises the Shanghai Yuxing court petition as "standard debt-dispute procedure, not evidence of financial collapse" (Nation Thailand).
- 2025-06-12 (Hozon court filing day): "As long as NETA remains in China, NETA will stay in Thailand" — pledges debt + organisational restructuring continues. Posted to Neta TH Facebook; framed restructuring as "a government-led recovery effort under court supervision" — narrative directly contradicted within 10 days by an anonymous Thai supplier on the record stating "the local team was laid off by the end of May" (Nation Thailand).
- No public statement found from Sun Baolong after Q3 2025. Whether he remains in role as of May 2026 is
[unverified]— a focused gap-closer should check Neta TH's website press releases + LinkedIn.
Distribution & business
Distributor structure
Neta Auto (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhejiang Hozon New Energy Automobile Co. — unlike GAC Aion (multi-distributor) or BYD (sole Rêver), Neta operates a factory-direct sales model with dealer franchisees handling retail. Original brand entry was led by Sun Baolong, who also heads Hozon's Southeast Asia business. The Thai unit is legally distinct from Hozon China per the Thai Ministry of Finance (Nation Thailand 2025-06-25) — a fact Neta TH has leveraged heavily in messaging, though materially the parent's collapse has cut off engineering, parts, brand spend, and product-pipeline credibility.
The original 2022 MOU was with Arun Plus Co., Ltd. (PTT subsidiary) to study Thai CKD assembly (Paultan 2022-08-26). Arun Plus never produced a single Neta vehicle. Production instead went to Bangchan General Assembly (BGA) via MOU signed 2022-11-24, with V-II CKD beginning March 2024.
Local manufacturing — Bangchan General Assembly (BGA)
- Site: Bangchan General Assembly Co., Ltd., Khan Na Yao / Min Buri district, Bangkok — a contract-assembly facility owned by the Phra Nakorn Automobile Group (since 2005), established 1970 in a Thai-American partnership with GM (Wikipedia).
- Designation: Hozon Auto's first overseas plant (CnEVPost 2023-11-30; Electrive)
- Capacity: 20,000 units/year annual capacity
- Production lines started:
- 2023-11-30 — small-batch trial production opens
- 2024-03-15 — Neta V-II mass production starts (MarkLines; EqualOcean)
- Q4 2024 — Neta X CKD begins; exports to Malaysia commence (Paultan; Carnewschina)
- 2024-12-26 — 400 layoffs announced at the plant (Nation Thailand)
- 2025-Q2 — production effectively halts due to lack of CATL/supplier parts shipments from China + funding shortfall
- Status May 2026:
[unverified]— likely idle / running only on stockpiled-parts inventory. No confirmation of restart published.
Charging network partnerships
- PEA charging network — Neta integrates with PEA VOLTA stations (standard CCS2 access — not exclusive partnership)
[unverified scope] - No major proprietary charging partnership publicly announced — unlike Aion (PEA strategic agreement) or BYD (own DC network)
Showrooms / dealer counts
See "Dealer network collapse (timeline)" above. As of May 2026, the ZigWheels figure of 56 dealers and the Neta TH website dealer-finder are both presumed stale. Field-verification needed.

Neta V — subcompact hatchback (launch model, original)
The model that launched Neta in Thailand. Front-motor FWD on Hozon's HEPT 3.0 platform with the company's "Magazine Battery"-style LFP pack (added MY2023). Globally the same nameplate was renamed "Neta Aya" in China from August 2023; in Thailand it remained "Neta V" until replaced on the price list by the facelifted V-II in March 2024. Chinese name: 哪吒 V / Nézhā V.
Lineage & platform
- Generation: First (China launch 2020; original 38.5 kWh NMC). MY2023 refresh in Thailand from October 2023 — battery swap to 40.7 kWh LFP at unchanged ฿549k MSRP.

Known DB drift / cleanup actions
Per the prompt's spec, the current Neta DB state shows model duplication that pre-dates the research-doc-first workflow.
Current state (per db/audit-neta.ts snapshot — Apr 2026):
neta-v (#9) — 1 trim: Lite MY2026 ฿489k (current MSRP)

- Consolidate the V family.
neta-v,v, andv-iiall describe the same nameplate-and-its-facelift. Per the canonical Neta brand naming used in TH, the right model slug isneta-v(matchingdb/seed/brands.json). The V-II facelift is a second generation row underneta-v, not a separate model. - Generations:

Open research items ([unverified] gap-closer pass)
Roughly 24 [unverified] flags in this document. A focused
second-pass research session should aim to close:
- Hozon's strategic investor outcome — who (if anyone) of the 47 investor candidates ultimately took up the restructuring stake? Status of the Aug 2025 deposit-call round.
- Bangchan General Assembly status post-mid-2025 — has it restarted Neta production? Has Hozon allowed BGA to take other-brand contract work?
- Sun Baolong's status as of May 2026 — still GM? Replaced? Public statements after Q3 2025?
- EV 3.0 subsidy clawback — has the Excise Department actually invoked any repayment? Or extended the production deadline? Or accepted Hozon's restructuring as force majeure?
- Thai class-action lawsuit status — court filed? Plaintiffs count? Damages claimed? Hearing schedule?
- Neta TH dealer count as of May 2026 — field-survey-verifiable; aggregator data unreliable.
- Customer deposit-refund resolution — Pantip thread analysis; specific named consumers + outcomes.
- Warranty actual claim experience — have any owners successfully claimed battery warranty post-bankruptcy? Average wait time?
- Battery cell supplier post-CATL-cut — was BGA running on stockpiled cells, or did Hozon find a backup supplier for V-II / X?
- Specific Neta X 2025 promo dates / amounts — BitAuto referenced a ฿739k floor but didn't show the exact discount cadence.
- Neta V vs V-II
0–100 km/htime — manufacturer publishes only 0–50 in 3.9 s. - Curb weight, V2L output, colour hexes across all three nameplates.
- Headlightmag and Autoinfo review URLs for V, V-II, X.
- Hyptec-style discontinued-trim audit — original Neta V Lite NMC (MY2022) when did Thai dealer-network stop offering it? Likely Q3 2023 with LFP refresh.
- Pantip thread URLs for the deposit-refund + warranty-failure threads — these are crucial owner-voice grounding for the AI advisor.
- The Hozon Aya CN-spec battery option (35–55 kWh range) vs Thai V-II's specific 36.1 kWh — why did Thai market get the smallest pack? Cost optimisation?
[unverified intent] - CATL battery-shipment cutoff date to Hozon — for the price-collapse causal narrative.
- Reuters fake-sales-inflation scandal URL (mentioned only via Wikipedia citation; primary URL needed).
- Has Neta Auto Thailand filed any Thai bankruptcy/rehabilitation petition of its own? Or remains a going concern?
- Updated dealer-network finder URL —
neta.co.th/en/dealer_networkreturned auth-blocked above; needs scraper. - Hozon Tongxiang factory restart date specifically (Aug 2025 was small-scale resumption; full restart?).
- Neta Aya vs V-II Thai-spec deltas — are they bit-identical or are there market-specific spec differences?
- Government extension of EV 3.0 deadline — implemented or rejected?
- 2026 Bangkok Motor Show (47th, Mar-Apr 2026) — did Neta exhibit? At reduced footprint?
[likely yes given they need to keep brand alive for owners; unverified]

Dealer network collapse (timeline)

| 2025-06-04 | ~40 (−40 % vs March; one major dealer closed 8 of 11 outlets) | Autolifethailand |
| 2025-Q4 | [unverified] — likely further contraction |
- Class-action lawsuit: Thailand Consumer Protection Council's Subcommittee for Screening Litigation approved a class-action lawsuit against Neta on 2025-07-04 (Chiang Rai Times;

Distribution & business
Distributor structure
Neta Auto (Thailand) Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Zhejiang Hozon New Energy Automobile Co. — unlike GAC Aion (multi-distributor) or BYD (sole Rêver), Neta operates a factory-direct sales model with dealer franchisees handling retail. Original brand entry was led by Sun Baolong, who also heads Hozon's Southeast Asia business. The Thai unit is legally distinct from Hozon China per the Thai Ministry of Finance (Nation Thailand 2025-06-25) — a fact Neta TH has leveraged heavily in messaging, though materially the parent's collapse has cut off engineering, parts, brand spend, and product-pipeline credibility.
The original 2022 MOU was with Arun Plus Co., Ltd. (PTT subsidiary) to study Thai CKD assembly (Paultan 2022-08-26). Arun Plus never produced a single Neta vehicle. Production instead went to Bangchan General Assembly (BGA) via MOU signed 2022-11-24, with V-II CKD beginning March 2024.
Local manufacturing — Bangchan General Assembly (BGA)
- Site: Bangchan General Assembly Co., Ltd., Khan Na Yao / Min Buri district, Bangkok — a contract-assembly facility owned by the Phra Nakorn Automobile Group (since 2005), established 1970 in a Thai-American partnership with GM (Wikipedia).
- Designation: Hozon Auto's first overseas plant (CnEVPost 2023-11-30; Electrive)
- Capacity: 20,000 units/year annual capacity
- Production lines started:
- 2023-11-30 — small-batch trial production opens
- 2024-03-15 — Neta V-II mass production starts (MarkLines; EqualOcean)
- Q4 2024 — Neta X CKD begins; exports to Malaysia commence (Paultan; Carnewschina)
- 2024-12-26 — 400 layoffs announced at the plant (Nation Thailand)
- 2025-Q2 — production effectively halts due to lack of CATL/supplier parts shipments from China + funding shortfall
- Status May 2026:
[unverified]— likely idle / running only on stockpiled-parts inventory. No confirmation of restart published.
Charging network partnerships
- PEA charging network — Neta integrates with PEA VOLTA stations (standard CCS2 access — not exclusive partnership)
[unverified scope] - No major proprietary charging partnership publicly announced — unlike Aion (PEA strategic agreement) or BYD (own DC network)
Showrooms / dealer counts
See "Dealer network collapse (timeline)" above. As of May 2026, the ZigWheels figure of 56 dealers and the Neta TH website dealer-finder are both presumed stale. Field-verification needed.

Neta V — subcompact hatchback (launch model, original)
The model that launched Neta in Thailand. Front-motor FWD on Hozon's HEPT 3.0 platform with the company's "Magazine Battery"-style LFP pack (added MY2023). Globally the same nameplate was renamed "Neta Aya" in China from August 2023; in Thailand it remained "Neta V" until replaced on the price list by the facelifted V-II in March 2024. Chinese name: 哪吒 V / Nézhā V.
Lineage & platform
- Generation: First (China launch 2020; original 38.5 kWh NMC). MY2023 refresh in Thailand from October 2023 — battery swap to 40.7 kWh LFP at unchanged ฿549k MSRP.
- Platform: Hozon HEPT 3.0 (battery management system with liquid cooling)
- Architecture: 400 V
- Origin: CBU-China for entire TH lifecycle (BGA CKD was reserved for V-II)
- Status May 2026: Effectively replaced by V-II in 2024 but listed as a current
modelsrow by ZigWheels and Neta TH; likely listing stale stock at ฿549k, no active deliveries. Treat as discontinued for new orders for evth advisor purposes.
